Phillipe, what is the most enjoyable part of your current job working with NFC technology?
Most enjoyable is the feeling that we are creating something unique that will change people's behaviour in the future.
Technology can be extremely fun when it deals with behaviour, and contactless is certainly the case. Its already proven that purchasing patterns increase because of contactless so imagine what will happend when just an arm movement generates multiple type of events...
Phillipe, what is the biggest challenge NFC technology and Inside Contactless face today?
The greatest challenge nfc faces today is the lack of clear business model between banks & telco. Although we see this being addressed and recognition from both parts that collaboration is needed. However NFC usage is not limited to mobile payment. Regarding INSIDE, our biggest challenge is to face the growth that we anticipate is coming ahead of us.
What do you feel is NFC technologies greatest strength?
NFC is about convenience to the end user. This is by far its biggest strength.
What do you think is the biggest weakness of NFC technology at present time and why?
The biggest weakness is the lack of finalized standards while the market is crying for commercial handsets. The technology takes time to integrate mobile phones, but this should end soon. The next mile stone is going to be the provisiong of the contactless services for which plenty remains to be defined.
Which NFC technology industry enabled applications, products or services will you or your company develop in the future or do presently provide?
INSIDE provides the NFC chip to be integrated in all NFC compatible terminals.
What benefits will your company bring to consumers daily lives with NFC technology?
It`s the convenience in ones everyday's life: transportation, payment, peer to peer exchanges. NFC will become pervasive in everyones everyday life.
Phillipe, where do you see NFC Technology in five years time?
Penetration that will exceed 50% and mobile phones will interact with consumer electronics equipments almost everywhere. NFC tag mark will become a recognised icon triggering intuituve behaviour.
