INSIDE Contactless, leading edge provider of contactless semiconductor chips, today announced that it has appointed Eric Alzai as Chief Technology Officer. Bruno Charrat is now named Chief Scientist and Vice President NFC Product Line. “We’re thrilled to add a talented CTO like Eric to lead our R&D efforts and help expand our product portfolio,” said Remy de Tonnac, CEO of INSIDE Contactless. “I think the combination of Bruno’s visionary skills and Eric’s experience will strengthen our offerings, and help us rapidly address today’s and tomorrow’s business opportunities.” Working from INSIDE’s Headquarters in Aix en Provence, France, Eric Alzai will lead the company’s Research and Development efforts, with the charter of securing and extending a new product portfolio. He will also manage numerous relationships with customers that require customized product development efforts.

Eric Alzai comes to INSIDE Contactless from Oberthur Card System where he held the position of Chief Technology Officer since 2001. For the previous 12 years, Eric held various technical positions at Gemplus as the Research and Development Director and as the Technology Director for the Asia Pacific region based in Singapore. A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs in Electronics and Electrotechnique in Paris, Eric spent most of his career in the microprocessor and embedded software technology and has been involved in the smart card industry since 1988.
Bruno Charrat, one of the founding members of INSIDE Contactless who has held several technical positions with the company , started his career in reader design, and participated in the creation of INSIDE’s MicroPass microprocessor chip. He later became Chief Technology Officer, where he worked on product definitions, while managing the development team. During this period, he actively participated in the ISO committee for the definition of the ISO 14443 and ISO 15693 standards, and still is an active member of the NFC Forum.
